A mild anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated and left on for around 30-40 minutes. The filler is then injected using a very fine needle into the skin beneath the wrinkle. For lips, a dental block can be used if you prefer. Results are visible immediately. The filler dissolves naturally over a period of months.

Dermal Fillers and Lip Fillers For Men

Dermal Fillers treat wrinkly and saggy skin, folds and scarring giving the face/lips volume and restored shape.

Wrinkle Reduction

As you smile or frown your facial muscles fold and crease in the skin creating lines around your face. These lines become deeper and more obvious making you look older and tired.

All these lines can be treated by Botulinum toxin which is marketed under the names, Botox, Xeomin, Vistable and Dysport. Botulinum Toxin A is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria.

The dose used for cosmetic purposes is in an extremely diluted form, and about 3000 times less than the toxic dose. Botox is a prescription only medicine and would only be prescribed following a consultation.

The Wrinkle Reduction Procedure

A very fine needle is passed through the skin into the superficial muscles, and a tiny amount of Botox is injected into each overactive muscle, causing it to relax. It takes between 3 -5 days for this to work and up to two weeks for it to become fully effective. The relaxation lasts for between 2 and 6 months, sometimes longer.

During this time the muscle gets smaller since it is unable to exercise itself. Over a 3 to 6 month period the nerve impulses return allowing the muscle to contract again. After a number of injections, the muscle may have relaxed to the extent that it no longer has enough strength to create deep expression lines.

What happens after Wrinkle Reduction Treatment?

No local anaesthetic is needed and you can resume normal activities immediately. Treatment takes around 15 minutes, depending on the number of areas you wish to treat.

Once you have been treated it usually takes two to five days before treatment actually takes effect and 2- 4 weeks to notice the full effect.

You may need to have top-up injections to maintain your desired appearance. Clinical studies indicate that the duration of treatment benefit is increased over time so that you should require injections less frequently in the future.

What happens after the Filler Treatment?

The fillers we use are non-toxic, non-allergenic products, which do not contain any animal ingredients. They have all been used safely on thousands of patients over many years. Side effects are minimal, though you should expect a little discomfort whilst being injected, and you may experience some short term bruising and swelling afterwards.

Dr Aslam has been great during this experience. The Linia team and nurse staff have also done all they could to support me. I found having my op under local strange at first (I have a fear of needles). I was very worried – but having it done was great compared to general. My recovery time was much less and I was back to work much sooner than expected.

Local anaesthetic was a much better experience than general. It was more relaxed and less painful. Recovery time was a lot quicker – there was no drowsiness or feeling sick. I would definitely use this option again if needed.
