Who is a suitable candidate for breast enlargement?

Breast augmentation is suitable for adults in good overall health who want to enhance the size, shape, or balance of their breasts.

You may be a good candidate if your breasts are fully developed, your weight is stable, and you are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s also important to have realistic expectations about what surgery can achieve.

Patients must be over 18 to undergo breast augmentation. For silicone implants, surgeons typically recommend waiting until at least 22.

What will happen after the breast enlargement surgery?

After your procedure, you will rest in our recovery suite before returning home the same day. Your surgeon will provide clear aftercare guidance to support smooth healing and minimise swelling and scarring.

During the first week, you will need to wear a supportive surgical bra continuously and avoid driving, exercise, lifting, or immersing your breasts in water.

Bruising and swelling are normal in the early stages and typically begin to settle during the second week. As sensation returns, some tingling or mild discomfort can occur, which is part of the healing process. How Is Breast Augmentation Performed?

Breast augmentation involves the careful placement of implants, or in some cases fat transfer, to enhance the size, shape, and balance of the breasts.

Your surgeon will position the implant either beneath the chest muscle or behind the natural breast tissue, depending on your anatomy and the result you want to achieve. Implants may be round or anatomical in shape and are made from soft silicone shells filled with either saline or silicone gel.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic in a specialist surgical facility, and most patients return home the same day.

A small incision is made in one of three discreet locations: beneath the breast fold, around the areola, or in the armpit. Through this incision, a pocket is created to place the implant precisely and securely. The incisions are then carefully closed to support neat healing and minimal scarring.

Breast augmentation focuses on enhancing volume and shape. If sagging is a concern, your surgeon may discuss whether a breast lift would be more appropriate, or whether the two procedures should be combined.

Dr Aslam has been great during this experience. The Linia team and nurse staff have also done all they could to support me. I found having my op under local strange at first (I have a fear of needles). I was very worried – but having it done was great compared to general. My recovery time was much less and I was back to work much sooner than expected.

Local anaesthetic was a much better experience than general. It was more relaxed and less painful. Recovery time was a lot quicker – there was no drowsiness or feeling sick. I would definitely use this option again if needed.
