A neck lift, or platysmaplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to address loose skin, excess fat, and weakened muscles in the neck. It can also improve the appearance of a “turkey neck”, jowls, or a poorly defined jawline.
Often performed as a standalone treatment or in combination with a facelift, a neck lift can deliver natural-looking, long-lasting results — enhancing your confidence and rejuvenating your overall appearance.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?
You may be suitable for a neck lift in Bristol if you:
Have sagging or wrinkled skin on the neck
Notice vertical neck bands or muscle laxity
Are unhappy with a double chin or jowls
Are in good general health and have realistic expectations
During your consultation at Linia, we’ll assess your facial structure, skin quality, and aesthetic goals to determine whether a neck lift is the right option for you.
The best way to find out more is to book a free phone appointment with a Patient Care Coordinator.
At Linia, we take a personalised approach to every surgery. A neck lift can involve one or more of the following techniques:
Platysmaplasty – Tightening the neck muscles for a smoother appearance
Cervicoplasty – Removal of excess skin
Liposuction – Removal of fat beneath the chin and around the jawline
The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia. Incisions are discreetly placed behind the ears and/or under the chin to minimise visible scarring.
Depending on the extent of your procedure, a neck lift may be performed on its own or in combination with other treatments such as:
Facelift
Chin augmentation
Non-surgical treatments like dermal fillers or skin resurfacing
Recovery and Aftercare
Recovery times vary, but most patients:
Return home the same day of surgery
Can resume light daily activities within 1–2 weeks
See swelling and bruising subside within 10–14 days
Return to full activity, including exercise, after 4–6 weeks
